Model horses scales explained!
The different sizes
Model Horses come in various sizes, or "scales". The most common scales include Traditional (1:9), Classic (1:12) and Bijoux (1/20 to 1/24). Identifying the scale of your model horses is important when selecting appropriate 3D accessories and kits. The information below will help you determine which scale your models fall into :
Scale: Traditional (1:9)
Height: Approximately 9 inches at the eartips (22 cm)
Length: Approximately 12 inches (30 cm)
Compatible Brands: Breyer Traditional, Stone
Horses, Peter Stone, Hagen-Renaker
Bijoux Scale (1:20 and 1:24)
Height: Approximately 5 inches at the eartips (12 cm)
Length: Approximately 7 inches (17 cm)
Compatible Brands: Schleich, Collecta, WIA...
Scale: Classic (1:12)
Height: Approximately 6 inches at the eartips (15 cm)

These scales are commonly used but variations may exist depending on the type of horse breed being represented. For example, a Frison horse will be taller and larger than an Arabian horse. In our DIY kits, the fabric is pre-cut to accommodate a tall model horse. However, depending on the type of horse you have, you may need to make slight modifications such as cropping the chest or back of the blanket to ensure a perfect fit for your model horse.
